Rod Matthiesen has trained horses for over
30 years and has worked at Eleanor's Arabian Farm since 1988.
Rod began training Quarter horses and Appaloosas and gradually
made the switch to Arabians. Rod trained with Gregg Stoffel
(Wildwood Farms) in the mid 1980s and then moved to Red Wing,
MN to train at O'Mac Stables. It was there that he found
his passion for the working western division, most notably
reining.
During his tenure with Eleanor's Arabian Farm,
Rod has helped the farm become one of the country's premier
reining barns. Rod consciously wants the amateurs to take
center stage because he feels they are the future of the Arabian
Horse Industry. Rod trains outside horses in reining and western
pleasure. He has trained amateur and youth clients
to National titles in Western Pleasure, Reining, Western Horsemanship,
and Reining Equitation divisions. At Eleanor's Arabian Farm,
Rod's clients have won:
9
National Championships
